Texas A&M Aggies
The Texas A&M Aggies football team represents Texas A&M University in the sport of American football. The Aggies compete in the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and have been members of the Big 12 Conference since the conference's inception in 1996. They joined the Southeastern Conference (SEC) in July 2012. Texas A&M football claims one national title and 18 conference titles since becoming a charter member in the Southwest Conference in 1915. The team plays all home games at Kyle Field, an 83,002-person capacity outdoor stadium on the university campus. Mike Sherman served as the head coach of the Aggies from 2008 until he was fired on December 1, 2011. On December 10, 2011, Kevin Sumlin was announced as the new head coach of the Aggies.
